# eth\_feeHistory - Tempo

Returns historical base fees and priority fee percentiles over a window of recent blocks. Useful for building fee oracles, though Tempo's stable-fee design means the data is unusually flat.

## Parameters

| Parameter         | Type            | Required | Description                                                     |
| ----------------- | --------------- | -------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| blockCount | string | Yes | Number of blocks in the window (hex, max 1024) |
| newestBlock | string | Yes | The newest block in the window — hex number or tag |
| rewardPercentiles | array of number | Yes      | Percentiles to compute over priority fees (e.g. `[25, 50, 75]`) |

## SDK Integration

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Ethers.js" %}

```javascript
import { ethers } from 'ethers';
const provider = new ethers.JsonRpcProvider('https://go.getblock.io/<ACCESS-TOKEN>/');
const result = await provider.send('eth_feeHistory', ["0x5", "latest", [25, 50, 75]]);
console.log(result);
```

{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Viem" %}

```javascript
import { createPublicClient, http, defineChain } from 'viem';
// Tempo is not yet in viem/chains as a built-in — define it inline.
const tempo = defineChain({
    id: 4217,
    name: 'Tempo',
    network: 'tempo',
    // Tempo has no native gas token. The `nativeCurrency` field is required by viem's
    // type system; values shown here are a no-op placeholder — actual fees are paid in TIP-20.
    nativeCurrency: { name: 'USD Placeholder', symbol: 'USD', decimals: 18 },
    rpcUrls: {
        default: { http: ['https://go.getblock.io/<ACCESS-TOKEN>/'] }
    },
    blockExplorers: { default: { name: 'Tempo Explorer', url: 'https://explore.tempo.xyz' } }
});
const client = createPublicClient({
    chain: tempo,
    transport: http('https://go.getblock.io/<ACCESS-TOKEN>/')
});
const result = await client.request({ method: 'eth_feeHistory', params: ["0x5", "latest", [25, 50, 75]] });
console.log(result);
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.getblock.io/api-reference/tempo/eth_feehistory-tempo.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
