# suix\_getCoinMetadata{deprecated} - Sui

This method returns metadata for a specified coin type on the SUI network, including its symbol, decimals, name, description, and icon URL. This information is essential for displaying tokens correctly in wallet interfaces, DEXs, and portfolio trackers. The metadata is stored on-chain and reflects the token's official configuration.

## SDK Integration

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Sui TypeScript SDK" %}

```typescript
import { SuiClient } from '@mysten/sui/client';
const client = new SuiClient({ url: 'https://go.getblock.io/<ACCESS-TOKEN>/' });
const metadata = await client.getCoinMetadata({
  coinType: '0x2::sui::SUI',
});
console.log(metadata);
```

{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Sui Rust SDK" %}

```rust
use sui_sdk::SuiClientBuilder;
#[tokio::main]
async fn main() -> Result<(), anyhow::Error> {
    let sui = SuiClientBuilder::default()
        .build("https://go.getblock.io/<ACCESS-TOKEN>/")
        .await?;
    let metadata = sui.coin_read_api()
        .get_coin_metadata("0x2::sui::SUI".to_string())
        .await?;
    println!("{:?}", metadata);
    Ok(())
}
```
