# eth\_getTransactionCount - Polygon

The **eth\_getTransactionCount** method returns the number of transactions sent from an address. This value is also known as the nonce and is essential for constructing new transactions.

## Parameters

| address        | string | Yes      | 20-byte account address                                 |
| blockParameter | string | Yes      | Block number in hex, or "latest", "earliest", "pending" |
