# eth\_gasPrice - Linea

This method returns the current gas price on Linea in wei, derived from recent blocks. It is used to price legacy transactions.

## Parameters

This method does not accept any parameters.

## Response Parameters

| id        | string | Request identifier matching the request |
| result    | string | Hex-encoded gas price in wei            |

## Use Cases

* **Legacy Pricing**: Set the gas price for a legacy transaction
* **Cost Estimates**: Combine with a gas estimate to compute a fee
* **Fee Dashboards**: Display the current network gas price
* **Send Timing**: Delay non-urgent sends when the gas price is high

## Error Handling

| Error Code | Message        | Description                                            |
| ---------- | -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| -32602     | Invalid params | A parameter is missing or has the wrong type or format |
| -32603     | Internal error | The node failed to process the request                 |
