web3_clientVersion - Bittensor

Example code for the web3_clientVersion JSON-RPC method. Complete guide on how to use web3_clientVersion JSON-RPC in GetBlock Web3 documentation.

Returns the EVM client software version. Subtensor EVM is built on Frontier (Substrate's EVM compatibility framework), so the response typically identifies the Frontier-based EVM runtime.

Subtensor EVM JSON-RPC method. Call against a GetBlock endpoint configured for the EVM interface (not the Substrate interface). Subtensor EVM uses chain ID 945 (0x3b1). Standard Ethereum tooling — ethers.js, viem, Hardhat, Foundry, MetaMask — works unmodified.

Parameters

  • None

Request Example

curl --location --request POST 'https://go.getblock.io/<ACCESS-TOKEN>/' \
--header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
--data-raw '{
    "jsonrpc": "2.0",
    "method": "web3_clientVersion",
    "params": [],
    "id": "getblock.io"
}'
import axios from 'axios';

const data = JSON.stringify({
    "jsonrpc": "2.0",
    "method": "web3_clientVersion",
    "params": [],
    "id": "getblock.io"
});

const config = {
    method: 'post',
    url: 'https://go.getblock.io/<ACCESS-TOKEN>/',
    headers: {
        'Content-Type': 'application/json'
    },
    data: data
};

axios(config)
    .then(response => console.log(JSON.stringify(response.data, null, 2)))
    .catch(error => console.log(error));

Response Example

{
