# getblocktemplate - Bitcoin Cash

This method returns data needed to construct a block to work on, following the getblocktemplate mining protocol. It is used by mining software to assemble candidate blocks.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| ----------------- | ------ | -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| template\_request | object | No | Object specifying template mode, capabilities, and supported rules |

## Response Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Description |
| --------- | ------------ | ------------------------------------------------ |
| error | null\|object | Error object when the call fails, otherwise null |
| id | string | Request identifier matching the request |
| result | object | Block template object for mining |

### Result Object

| Field | Type | Description |
| ----------------- | ------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| version | numeric | Block version |
| previousblockhash | string | Hash of the current tip to build on |
| height | numeric | Height of the block to be mined |
| coinbasevalue | numeric | Maximum coinbase value in satoshis |
