# eth\_getBalance - Arbitrum Nova

Example code for the eth\_getBalance JSON-RPC method. Complete guide on how to use eth\_getBalance JSON-RPC in GetBlock Web3 documentation.

This method returns the ETH balance of an address in wei at a given block. It is the primary way to read native balances on GIWA Sepolia.

## Parameters

| address        | string | Yes      | 20-byte address to query                                                     |

## Response Parameters

## Use Cases

* **Wallet Balances**: Display an account's native ETH balance
* **Gas Gating**: Confirm a deployer address is funded before broadcasting
* **Historical Balances**: Read a balance at a past block by passing a hex height
* **Accounting**: Reconcile balances across blocks for a treasury view

## Error Handling

| -32603     | Internal error | The node failed to read the account balance |
